6 x 7- My Crafty Room

It is probably one of the smaller craft spaces around. Bigger than a closet, yes, but when you try and fill it with furniture . . . maybe a little earthquake unsafe. Just a little. Somehow getting a new job sucked up all of my life forces over the past few months, and this weekend I finally got my bearings and decided to make the space usable again. It had become a crumpled ball of holiday decorations, half started projects, and stuff that belonged in other rooms. I couldn’t quite walk all the way in. But motivation arrived in the form of my sweetheart- a new sewing machine! There she sits, happily perched in her new, clean space. I haven’t named her yet, but it’s coming. I bought a Janome Sew Precise, which I’ve been playing around with at work for a couple of months now, and I LOVE. I like it because it’s relatively basic, but sturdy enough to sew through leather, denim, even multiple layers of denim. For my purposes it is really a fantastic machine. My favorite function is the foot pedal speed adjuster. Mmhmm. Top drop bobbin, oh yeah. Can you tell that I’m mentally caressing my machine right now?

I think I need a quick photo ode to my crafty room-

The last two are a bit chaotic- these are before the cleanup. I’m not going to show you the really ugly stuff- no way! But just look at that fabric, waiting to be made into cuteness . . . so sad, isn’t it?

t’s been a while since I’ve sewn for myself. I’ve mostly been making halloween things (remind me to tell you about my halloween party) and then Christmas things, and experimenting with unfamiliar crafts. That mostly involves wool. But at long last I have something cute and sweet and new to share. I’ve decided to make kits! This one is pretty straight forward, and a must for the creative crafter- a Craft Corsage! Here is a preview-
