Swooning, Crafting, and Vacationing.
Sometimes I make things and I want to eat them. Like these-

I made a gentlemanly version tonight but I haven’t photographed them yet. They are lil notebooks covered in paper versions of my favorite fabrics and vintage wallpapers. I used my favorite papers inside and out and they are just ridiculous. Sigh. Why can’t we eat cute things? Well we could I guess . . .
But speaking of eating cute things, Eric and I are leaving for our west coast road trip on Saturday! I’m incredibly excited to visit some favorite places and explore some new ones. What does that have to do with eating cute things? Well it means that when get to San Francisco we’ll stop by Miette and have some delicious macarons and I’ve been dying to stop by their new-ish confectionerie (I actually suggested that we move back to San Francisco just so we could have our babies’ birthdays there). We had Miette macarons and cakes at our wedding and it was absolutely one of the best parts of our day- aside from declaring our undying love and commitment and all that stuff. Anyway, enough about ridiculous amounts of delicious cuteness. Other places we’re definitely going to stop off to ram our faces full of yummy food are the Toy Boat – for some Chocolate Motherlode (warmed up for exactly 20 seconds) and King of Thai on Clement, plus the yummy okonomiyaki place in the Japantown mall, our old breakfast joint, maybe if we have time we’ll stop at Chow or Orphan Andy’s (the most incredible sausages I’ve ever had)- so much food, so little time!
Aside from Eating our way through the old hood, I’m really looking forward to stopping in Big Sur (even though we go there every summer I just don’t think I can ever get enough) and then there’s going to be some very lovely Oregon and Washington action. We’re hoping to climb Maltnomah Falls again, and we’ll be driving through the Olympic Peninsula which I’ve never done. It’s been several years since we’ve been in Washington and I’m really excited to go back. I’m also really excited that we’re not staying in any shady hotels- Eric is notorious for preferring reckless “adventure” to comfort and safety. Being that this is his 30th birthday trip, I thing he’s actually outgrown that style of travel, maybe.
There will also be lots of shopping I hope, but it won’t kill me to go somewhere and not shop. Well, I take that back. I mean, think of all the space between L.A. and Vancouver! All the Value Villages, all the Thrift Towns, antique stores, junk shops. Good cute-stuff is waiting for me out there, I just know it. I’ll make sure to keep you people posted on my trip and my goodies, but there won’t be any new posts while we’re on the road. There might, however, be some video footage when we get back!
