Button Tins!
Okay, so I don’t really like “before” photos because they’re just not pretty. But were I to take a before picture of my studio it would be like this: alken;aoiuhghbia;uvnwrbv;anerogiaerignabsetlughagnvk dzbunsitbho;aeirgjna;oirjgioa;rgha;eoit;hga;lkjnv;lagijraighjroiahg;aekrgnal;kgj- but in stuff.
Stuff on the floor, stuff on the desk, on the cutting table, on top of my beloved sewing machine, stuff shoved into bags, stuff with hints of mildew, stuff with spiders (BIG spiders) hiding in the folds. Just not nice. So please understand that this makeover is taking me a while! But I’ve made some serious progress which I’ll be posting for your vicarious-organizing pleasure.
First up is my buttons N fixin’s shelving. This lovely little cabinet was once a spice cabinet from Goodwill- it came complete with an artichoke illustration on the door and 36 clean and empty jars! I removed the door and painted the insides crisp white, filled some window tins with buttons and some jars with other notions and voila- a buttons n fixin’s shelving unit. It’s EVER so helpful to have what I need close at hand instead of where it was- and I honestly can’t remember where any of this stuff was.
Originally I tried to get the buttons themselves into the jars, but the mouths of the jars were too small to fit some of the larger buttons. So I used some window tins, which had the handy ability to fit my vintage buttons still on their cards! And the extras go on display.
Oooh, and hopefully tomorrow I’ll remember to tell and show you the excellent freebie I got when I went to pick up my library book today! It’s called “Sewing Made Easy”, published 1952, my friends. A true gem.
