Kettle Handle Cozy!
Oh how I love me some tea in the afternoon . . . but I don’t love burning my hand on the melted handle. Yuck. The handle has a tendency to fall sideways and the plastic has been melting off bit by bit. And every so often I or a loved one gets burnt. So finally I decided to do something about it. I took twenty minutes and made this oh-so-adorable handle cozy!
If you want to make your own just knit a 5″ x 3″ swatch in any pattern you’d like (I used stockinette with the 2 stitches on either end purled on the RS and knit on the WS). Once you’ve woven in the ends and blocked it you can add the buttons. I used very little buttons so that I wouldn’t have to worry about making button holes. Now a few warnings **MAKE SURE YOU USE A NATURAL FIBER YARN and 100% cotton thread for the buttons- no polyester!! Since your cozy is going to get quite hot you don’t want any melting fabric or thread- what a mess!
So cute!
