Here’s how this is going to work- I’ll be sending out a tutorial on the 15th of every month via the Polly Danger Newsletter (better go sign up now!) and eventually those lovely little tutorials will end up on the blog in the Tutorials section! If you’re signed up for the newsletter then you’ve already seen this tutorial! Whee!!

The first tutorial posted is the oh-so-sugary-sweet Oven Lovin’ Mitt. It’s the oven mitt for lovers!

Kettle Handle Cozy!

Oh how I love me some tea in the afternoon . . . but I don’t love burning my hand on the melted handle.  Yuck.  The handle has a tendency to fall sideways and the plastic has been melting off bit by bit.  And every so often I or a loved one gets burnt.  So finally I decided to do something about it.  I took twenty minutes and made this oh-so-adorable handle cozy!

If you want to make your own just knit a 5″ x 3″ swatch in any pattern you’d like (I used stockinette with the 2 stitches on either end purled on the RS and knit on the WS).  Once you’ve woven in the ends and blocked it you can add the buttons.  I used very little buttons so that I wouldn’t have to worry about making button holes. Now a few warnings **MAKE SURE YOU USE A NATURAL FIBER YARN  and 100% cotton thread for the buttons- no polyester!!  Since your cozy is going to get quite hot you don’t want any melting fabric or thread- what a mess!

So cute!

Swap Goodies Have Arrived!

My Swap N Blog goodies came yesterday!!! I was super excited to open my package from Cut Your Heart Out- it was FULL of stuff!

Aside from fun stuff like stickers and post cards, Jessica included music (!), my main goody and it was all inside of this very pretty vibrant blue decoupaged tray!! It was like opening up a party. I put on the cd and was pleasantly surprised (you never know what you’re going to get with a mystery cd)! She sent me something from Changing Names which took me back to my riot grrl days in Oly. Sigh. I like.

And the actual swap goody is this super pretty muted silver chain with cobalt blue baubles- romantically modern, stand out pretty! So okay, enough talking- here are pictures!

CYHO-Necklace1

Ignore the bazumbas- check out the necklace! I think it’s a good color on me, no?

CYHO-Necklace2

Here’s a close-up of the blue baubles. I like the swirly marbled effect.

CYHO-TrayClUp

Here’s a closeup of the tray. It was almost impossible to capture, but there’s a subtle fairy glitter on the dragonfly wings!

Jessica has always needed a creative outlet to redirect stress- WORD. She started her shop as a way to share the fruits of her creativity with others and make a little extra moolah to buy more crafty supplies- DOUBLE WORD! I feel you Jessica. She says the thing she most wants out of her business is to make fun jewelry and have others own her creations. Jessica recommends ThisYearsGirl.Etsy.com, which I second- very pretty, ethereal photography and other lovelies!

Thanks so much Jessica for the awesome package!!!!!! Please go check out her shop and blog, where she posted a VERY nice post about me!!!

Crafty Crush- Part 1

My first post- PAPER PASTRIES. YUMMMMMM. It happened at the HBOC show- a booth so cute I wanted to vomit bunnies. Cake stands- check. Stripes- check. Delightful hand-lettering- check. But there was a boy manning the booth, so I wasn’t sure who this mystery stuff was from. Turns out that fun girl in the red dress- the one with the camera- the one with a sassy sense of humor- was Margaret from Paper Pastries! And guess what- I found her goodies in my favorites! And guess what else- she posted about ME! I think she made my booth look vomit-bunnies-cute!! Grab yourself a bucket and some bunny feed and check out the post HERE.

I’m putting together a VIDEO POST about the show, but in the meantime please take a moment to revel in a portion of total punk-cuteness!

I’m such a sucker for this lettering. You can see more gorgeous lettering on her blog!

I sure did. Margaret also carries an extensive line of these for all the most awesome cities- like San Francisco!

Just Cute. Jars are cute. Candy is cute. These cards are therefore cuter.

Oh yes, the idea behind the crafty crush is this- Every time I add a someone to my favorites list I get this wistful question in the back of my mind- Do they even know I exist? It’s like being in 7th grade again. I mean, there are a lot of crafters out there. A lot of cute stuff. And sometimes its’ so cute that I think- If my crafty stuff and their crafty stuff made babies what would it look like?

Eric and I ran into Ivy from Delightful Trinkets at the show and she gave me the AWESOME idea of posting about it. Because in fact, a lot of times if I think someone else’s stuff is knock-out cute they might think my stuff is too! And that’s like a golden moment, when you discover at a show or through a convo or (!) purchase that your crafty crush is crushin’ on you too!!

Maybe one day I can post about Crafty Crush Babies- Well little Timmy it’s like when one crafter and another crafter crush on each other very much . . .
