Baz Biz Maker Faire 2010- Success!!

I have to just start out by saying that this was a mind boggling weekend!  I was totally overwhelmed by the blog-reader and frequent-customer LOVE I received!!  Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who came by to say hello!!  It was heartwarming and very welcome.

And guess what else- I am the proud recipient of a Craftzine Editor’s Choice Award!!!!  Squeee! Jump up and down and spin in a circle and Squee with me!!!  Okay, now that I’ve set my bangs back in place and smoothed out my skirt let me get respectable for a moment and share the best details with you.

I know, I know, you want pictures.  Well I’ll whet your appetite a bit and share a few here.  But you can find a bunch more on my newborn Flickr page!

We got a very lucky spot and were able to create an intimate, yet roomy booth!  7 foot tall shutters, a real chair rail, and some spiffy new fixtures were just the thing to create a little architectural flair!

It was really fantastic to explore all of my fellow crafties’ booths- I swear everyone’s booth was bigger and better than last year!  Everyone had such fantastic displays and merchandising.  Keep your peepers on Crafty Scout for a post on Baz Biz merchandising this week!  Here are some of my favorites:

Pollyanna Cowgirl‘s faaaahbulous ChaCha rings.

What do you think happens when you pick up Bird Mafia‘s receiver and put it to your ear?  I’m not telling- you’ll have to try it yourself!

I am IN LOVE.  Thank you, Silvi, of The Poetry Store for blowing my mind.  More on this insanely beautiful hybrid art in another post.

In short, although Eric got food poisoning, this weekend was really, really incredible and made me happy to be a crafty spirit.  Ups and downs be damned, I love making stuff and I love people who make stuff!

Custom Buttons- Yes, Please!

Just for Baz Biz Maker Faire this Saturday and Sunday- a truly special experience awaits you!

That’s right- sift through my personal stash of heavenly vintage, and new fabrics to have your very own buttons made while you wait- like keys, only better!  You can also bring your own fabric scraps and we will be more than happy to make buttons from that too!  NUM!!!

Find me (and my buttons) at BOOTH # 43, in the center aisle, near the West entrance to Cypress Hall.  See you there!

Pink Parlour Part 2

Yesterday I told you all about the ohhh-so-lovely venue where the Pink Parlour was held, and today I can tell you all about the show!

I really wasn’t sure what to expect, but my booth was in a neat little nook in the corner, and it was HUGE!  There were so many fantastic vendors there I didn’t have a chance to visit them all!  Maybe next year Pink Parlour can be a two day event . . .

I got to test out some new goodies, which might be added to the shop any day now!  All in all it was a good time and I hope I get to do it again next year, though we might be living too far to make the trip.  We’ll see.  Anyhow, here are some pictures!

I got the sewing box at the Rose Bowl Flea Market last summer.  It was originally an ugly black, but I painted it creamy white.  The letters came from the best Value Village last time we went to Olympia.  I got a full set of upper case letters and a full set of lower case!  I’m thrilled that I finally got to put them to use!  I’m working on embellishing the board a bit for the next show.

I love the ticket stalls behind my booth.  Sadly I think they use electronic machines now for placing bets.  My hope is that technology will fail and one day people will go back to doing things the cooler way.

Horse Disneyland- Pink Parlour Part 1!

I shook a lot of hands this weekend at LTTS and Pink Parlour.  I also Breathed a lot of germy  air apparently.  And subsequently spent the first half of the week lying in bed with a yucky cold!  But now I am finally well enough to type up a recap of the non-germy parts of the weekend! I feel triumphant!

First of all, before the Pink Parlour I had never been to the Santa Anita Racetrack and can I just tell you that it is one of the coolest places in L.A.?  Seriously- I am a very discriminating sort when it comes to coolness and this place just tops so much of what I’ve seen in my 27 years as an Angeleno.  It’s like Disneyland for horses!  It even SMELLS like Disneyland (or maybe that was just my exhaustion, but whatever).

Perfectly manicured landscaping, graceful palm trees, majestic mountains, and elegant, whimsical architectural details- I’m in love!  It certainly helps that the enormous building is painted the most heavenly shade of muted jade with trim in buttery cream.  I’m melting just thinking about it!

Then factor in adorable horses all over the place- it’s just a dream!  We didn’t place any bets, but we will next time.  I just had fun watching the races and joining in the general cheer of the thing.

Did I mention that it’s across the street from the L.A. Arboretum?  Talk about a relaxing weekend of entertainment, huh?  I like that this can be as inexpensive as you like- picnic lunch, a couple of horse bets, a stroll in the arboretum at dusk- fun, relaxed, and romantic!!

Part 2 of the Pink Parlour post will actually be about the show *-*, and should arrive shortly after this post!

I know. There are a million little bits to look at. I got kind of carried away with stuff-ness. I just couldn’t bear to leave anything behind. Variety is the spice of life, right?

Here’s a little closeup of the fore-mentioned pocket scissors-

See if you can find them hidden amongst all that STUFF! I’m a total clutter bug at heart.
