Pup Snacks!

Baked some yumalicious doggie snacks this weekend for the Mutt Scouts benefit bake sale over at Home Ec.  It came just in time too because our ancient oven finally kicked the bucket yesterday- what timing, huh?!  Not only did our 6 taste testers fully approve, but the packaging came out SO cute!

Our pups loved the snackies and so did  . . . Archie!

Archie was the Reform School mascot for an afternoon and the first official Pup Snacks taste tester.  So cute!

Happy Happy Happy 2010!

Although I generally dislike the idea of time passing, I’m feeling especially joyful about this coming year! There are so many beautiful moments to come and I’ve never felt so excited to meet them! So cheers to a new year!

And in typical PD style I celebrate with a photo of one of my mutts! Here’s Petina stealing my pillow (again) and snuggling her favorite toy. I think it’s time for a haircut, don’t you?

Sicky Boy is Back HOME!!

Last week we had a pup-mergency, which was, thankfully resolved over the weekend. We had to take our Yellow Beans to the vet for an extended visit ;_;. Apparently he has/had a mysterious liver problem which causes the fluid in his veins to seep out into his body! It even caused some pneumonia. He was swollen and puffy and coughing for almost two weeks. At first it seemed like an allergy, but it was too serious to be an allergy. It was really awful.

And leaving him at the vet was scary and heartbreaking. I hate leaving my babies there. They just have no idea why they’re there or when you’re coming back, you know? We went to visit him while he was there, and even though he had a doggy IV he was happy to see us and he seemed to not be scared. We just snorgled him for a couple of hours till he passed out on the floor from snorgle-overload.

I was starting to get really freaked out that we couldn’t bring him home. But finally the vet called and told us we could bring him home. He seems to be totally normal now. The swelling is gone but we have to give him special powder in his water, and feed him salted food- a small price to pay for a healthy dog! We’re still waiting on some test results, but I’m really happy to see him not swollen for the first time in weeks! And he is just over the moon happy to be back with his buddies and sleep in his Yellow-nest and get lovins whenever he wants!

And now, an ode to Yellow!

YellowPuffs

There he is while we were painting our room- very stoic. He almost blends into the wall! This is the typical Yellow Dog pose- leaning back, trying to show off his manliness.

And here his His Muttliness posing to have his silhouette taken for the famous Silhouette Wallpaper (he’s the one under the mirror). Look at that scruffy mug! I just WUFFFF him!!! We are SO happy he’s home!

Kitty Friend!

Does anyone remember when we kind of had chickens last year? Well anyhow in case you don’t remember, the neighbors who live right behind us used to have chickens and they’d fly over the fence and hang out in our backyard all the time. It was kind of cute and kind of a pain in the butt. Well, the chickens have long since gone (I really don’t want to know what happened to them), and the neighbor’s have kitties now! Much less obnoxious to us, but much more irritating to Jojo because they like to romp all over the porch roof and make noise.

So a few weeks ago Eric found one of their kitties trapped in the storage shed and he rescued it. Ever since then it’s become our best friend, when the dogs are safely in the house. We call her Girl Kitty and she likes to come out at night for lovins and snuggles. Every night I make her a little blanket nest on her favorite lawn chair and she snuggles down for mimis (sleep). She’s super cute. She has white paws and bright yellow eyes! She has a brother kitty who’s not quite so friendly, but every so often he comes out for pets. This morning he came to say hello to Eric and we got this great photo:

Boy Kitty Friend

Aww- he’s got a look that says, “I desire snuggles”, huh? Girl Kitty is much more girly looking, but since she mostly comes out at night we don’t have any photos of her yet. Although yesterday afternoon we had her romping around chasing a piece of rope, which she then attacked and dragged off behind the house to destroy. It was SO cute. I’m sure I’ll be on the make for photos of Girl Kitty now!

Happy Wednesday!!

This One is Juuuust Right . . .

After I redid my studio a few weeks ago I brought back one of my favorite faux-coco* chairs as a comfy place to read. It’s a great chair and it’s right under a really sunny window, but when I’m not sitting in it the doggles like to use it as their own snuggle palace. There were kind of too many dogs for the one chair (lots of pouty glares had to happen before I really noticed), so I thought I’d make it into a bunk bed. I added a little bumper and pillow to the under part, and tied that to the chair, so now there’s a snuggle nook under the chair! It has become Petina’s favorite place to rest while I work. Usually Jojo takes the top bunk, Monty lays down wherever he’s most likely to be tripped over, and Yellow is obsessed with Monty, so he’s usually in the spot where he’s next most likely to be tripped over.

But today who should I find on Petina’s princess pillow? Not Petina but Yellow Beans!!!! All snuggled up in her tiny little bed. It’s so cute how comfy he is. Look at his face. He’s in heaven. It doesn’t matter that his feet are in his face, or that he’s oh-so-delicately perched on the pillow, he’s gonna be comfy dammit!

Just another day in a wilderness of cute! Til next time, friends!

Little Morning Bear

Got up this morning to make coffee and when I got back to the bedroom who should I find in my spot?

That little whippersnapper! Under the covers too. And she had the nerve to give me a crazy look when I politely asked her to move!
