I had SO much fun at the Handmade Brigade yesterday! Thank you to everyone who came out to see me! Nina hand picked some really fantastic vendors, and here are a very few of them ( I think I skipped some photo ops on accident).

Here are some lovely bits from By Belinda- very charming and very sweet and subtle. I love her lace appliques!
I somehow didn’t actually take a photo of Delightful Trinkets ( I think someone was standing in the way) but please go check her out- I basically want one of everything Ivy makes. And Oh her booth- SO cute. You know how I love cake stands. It was like a sea of candy colors and cake stands in the lightest, brightest colors. Mmm.

Look at them! Like candy. Like little sugary wafers! Little Chirpy Bird’s shop is just as cute as her booth!

Sweet Petina, how much I love Krank Press! Especially the Tokyo Taxi Cabs and the patterned books and the backyard fauna- Ooohhhh I want them ALL!
As for photos of my own booth- they’ll have to wait because lovely Eric has them on his camera. He tends to hold them hostage. BUT I do have something else to show you!

Soon to be in my etsy shop! And here’s a little something that already is in my etsy shop:

Til next time!

Check out Sticky Wicks here.

So a couple of days ago I inquired about ordering in bulk from The Gilded Bee and it turned into a heavenly trade- I gave her some bias tape and she gave me these:

Soon to be converted into delicious goodies FOR YOU! But what a lovely thing to get in the mail, non? Such lovely, sweet packaging! They came pouring out of the envelope like candy. Sigh. Stuff this great just fills my cup. Really. Not only are these cuties going to be put to good use, but don’t they look cute in my window?

If you’re looking for Danger-esque paper cuteness, these are definitely it. She also keeps several great blogs, but Abeille Couture is my favorite.

Mrph. I’m mind-blowingly tired today. I’ve been sewing and ironing like crazy, and I hope it pays off in the form of hundreds of lovely aprons and goodies! Poor Eric got even less sleep last night- he stayed up late working and got locked out of the big house and I was so fast asleep that I didn’t hear him knocking on the window. I woke up in the middle of the night and he wasn’t there, so I went back to the studio and found him curled up in a little Eric-ball on our too-tiny sofa. You’ve seen the sofa- the one with the really high arm-rests. His feet were up on the arm rest and his head was all smooshed against the other arm rest.
But what I really wanted to share was this lovely photo of my Cicada Studio fabric that came in the mail a few days ago.

I’m ridiculously in love with it. YUM! I only bought a bit of each fabric in the collection, but if all goes well I’ll be buying lots more! Did I mention that one of my goals for Polly Danger is to use mostly fabrics designed by crafty-folks? I see it in the near future. I’m still playing around with which fabrics to pair this with, but it’s really exciting stuff.
Also, we’ve had a new houseguest. Meet Foxy.

She weighs about a quarter of a pound, and she gives fantastic kisses- don’t tell Petina! Foxy belongs to Grandma’s helper, Teresa, who has been telling us about Foxy for probably over a year. Finally last Friday we got to meet the mysterious Foxy, and she’s been coming over almost every day since. She is really one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever snuggled. I love that furrowed brow! Petina isn’t too keen on Foxy coming in and wagging her big, poufy tail, but at least she’s not hiding under the sofa anymore. I know it’s crazy to want more dogs in our house, but even though it’s tons of work, it’s also incredibly fun to have so many dogs around. Foxy is only here for a few hours a day, which is perfect.
One last thing before I go eat a really late dinner. Here’s my working counter, with a fair amount of stuff on it. Plus some gorgeous red tulips that I gave myself for Mother’s Day- being a dog-mom counts, right?

I LOVE tulips.

Ever searching for adorableness and uniqueness, I’ve made some additions to my fabric stash and therefore to my apron collection. I love my Denyse Schmidt goodies (God bless that woman) but I really want to bring in styles that mesh with my vision but are also supportive of folks like me- hard workin’ indie crafters makin’ it happen. Movers and shakers. So here are a few of the goodies that have arrived in the mail so far!

From the bottom they are: “Wolf and Lil Red” of the Fables and Foxes collection by Gumball Grenade, “Wheels’ by Little Crows, and “Raindrops” in Chocolate, Mandarin, and Split Pea by Swanky Swell. The fabrics in the photo are washed and dried and they’re still all really vibrant and nummy! I’m also expecting fabrics from Cicada Studio- I can’t wait! I LOVE the trees. And the birds. And the telephone wires. When I can afford to buy everything in this shop, I will.
One more time- BIG UPS TO SPOONFLOWER! We love you. And soon, God willing, we will be bringing you our own set of fabrics. Yep. Dial 9-1 just in case your brain explodes from the cuteness.

Guess who finally used the self-timer on her camera today. ME. I got tired of bugging/waiting for Eric to take pictures for me, so I finally got out my manual and figur-er-out. That means I can now post my precious aprons whenever I want!!!!!!!!!!!! Here’s the first one.
Introducing the Modern Storybook Utility Apron, one of the new aprons in my Storybook series.

Also, I’ve been wanting to share some Etsy goodies with you. I just bought this fabulous pillowcase pack from Eagerhands.

One of the pillowcases exactly matches a bedspread my grandparents have had for over 50 years! Aside from the nostalgia, I love the pattern of the fabric, and Lora puts together some really fantastic combinations. She carries some really incredible vintage fabric and pillowcase packs, along with pre-cut quilt squares. She’s definitely got goodies that I’ll keep going back for!
Those are my little tidbits of goodness for today. More goodness bits to come tomorrow (I’m really challenging myself to do this on a daily basis now).

I think most people who know me know that I’m a writer, but I have always tended not to mix the writer side of myself with the crafter side of myself, and over the past year or so I’ve realized that that’s kind of a big mistake. I’m still working on ways to combine the two halves, and eventually I’ll be making scrumptious little books of fiction for your reading pleasure. I’ve become increasingly inspired in the last month as I’ve joined a writing workshop and am once again forced to adhere to deadlines (thank God for deadlines or I’d get nothing done at all). My approaching deadline has made me think an awful lot about how good it feels to hand in a beautifully packaged story. The tangible parts of reading are all so important to the experience and I’d love to play with that more. Anyhow, that was a long-winded introduction to what some other writers/artists/crafters are doing with their work on Etsy.
I found this fantastic work by La Pomme Stories on Etsy (we were on the front page together yesterday!).

The stories are mostly short fairy tales, beautifully rendered in fabric and small artifacts. One of the things that I like most about them is the brevity. I’m pretty notorious for writing incredibly short pieces, and it’s really nice to see how one person has found a way to convey some of the meaning in between the things that are not written on the page. Really, really lovely stuff.
Another awesome bit that I found is Rana Regulus Demutato; An illustrated study of science and fairy tales from Julia Y of Dumpster Divine.

This especially appeals to the hybrid writer in me- what could be more hybrid than science and fairy tales? I like the implication that science isn’t as scientific as we want to think. I ordered this bad boy yesterday and I’m really looking forward to getting it in the mail. Also check out Julia Y.’s awesome dolls. I especially love the hair detail. So awesome for so many reasons.
